Our Story: The Heart Behind LemonMoon

LemonMoon officially launched in 2018 — but the story started long before that.

It began with frustration.

I was struggling with eczema and felt discouraged by the bath and body options available to me. So many products were labeled “gentle,” yet still left my skin irritated, dry, or inflamed. I wanted natural skincare for sensitive skin that actually worked — products that were functional but still felt beautiful and luxurious to use.

So I started researching ingredients.
I started experimenting in small batches.
And eventually, I began creating my own handmade bath and body products.

What started as a personal solution for eczema-prone skin slowly turned into small batch skincare shared with family and friends. My very first product — a simple lemon lotion — quietly made its way into the hands of people I loved.

And they loved it too.

That’s how LemonMoon was born.

The Meaning Behind LemonMoon

The name LemonMoon carries the heart of how this business began.

“Lemon” is an homage to that very first batch of lemon lotion — the product that started it all.

And “Moon” is for our late dog, Moon, who spent years laying at my feet while I built this business and grew our family. Through long nights of researching ingredients, labeling soap, and honing my craft — she was always there.

LemonMoon is rooted in those early days.
Simple beginnings.
Steady growth.
And a whole lot of heart.

Built on Function + Beauty

From the beginning, my goal has been simple:

To create luxury handmade bath and body products that are both gentle and effective.

I believe you shouldn’t have to choose between products that work and products that feel beautiful in your everyday routine

Over the years, LemonMoon has grown from handmade soaps and lotions to sugar scrubs, bath bombs, shower steamers, and eventually our clean home line, PureHaven — featuring laundry detergent and thoughtfully formulated room sprays.

Because caring for your skin doesn’t stop at skincare.
It extends into the clean home products you use every day.

Every formula is carefully researched and created in small batches, with a focus on quality ingredients, skin-supportive oils, and gentle fragrance options whenever possible.

A Season of Change

In 2025, life shifted in a beautiful way — I found out I was pregnant with our third baby.

At the same time, I made the bittersweet decision to close the brick-and-mortar storefront for The Paint Post and restructure that business into something more flexible. That season taught me so much about creativity and community.

Closing that chapter created space.

Space to refocus.
Space to simplify.
Space to grow LemonMoon as an online handmade skincare brand and bring our products to more homes through our website and local craft shows.

Instead of growing bigger, I chose to grow more intentionally.

More Than Products

LemonMoon is more than a handmade bath and body business.

It’s an extension of the way I create and live.

I care deeply about:
• Making things from scratch
• Understanding ingredients and how they affect sensitive skin
• Creating gentle, natural skincare in small batches
• Being a present and intentional mother
• Growing LemonMoon in a way that reflects my values
• Living creatively in everyday life

As LemonMoon grows, you’ll see more behind-the-scenes looks at small batch product making, ingredient education, simple recipes, and intentional routines — along with the luxury handmade soap, lotions, and clean home essentials that started it all.
